Consulting, research, editing, and teaching services

Services

I offer a rather eclectic range of services, which all connect somewhere in the grand narrative of my life’s journey. Right now I am trying out new opportunities, so please approach me with your current need or project.

Consulting

My research on the lived experience of schism in nonprofit organisations—along with my time as a small school principal, volunteering on nonprofit boards, and my MBA—leads me to offer a holistic consulting service. Anything from how to articulate your values and mission and embed that in your constitution—to mentoring leaders or empowering groups in active schism.

Schism research

People’s stories of schism led me to define and theorise schism in a novel way, which reduces stigma and generates many more options for schism management (beyond avoidance or a power struggle).

I can speak with leadership teams and community groups, or at peak body meetings or conferences, about the social dynamics that drive schism, and ways to intervene and achieve better lived experiences and outcomes.

I would love the opportunity to work with leaders in more depth, because there is a lot more insight to share than can be communicated in half an hour. Perhaps a series of workshops online (or podcasts but I prefer two way communication). I would like to partner with an organisation on this, perhaps a peak body. Give me a call if you can imagine working together.

Your research project

I am an Honorary Research Associate at Murdoch University. I can contract to undertake your specific research project: independently or in partnership with the University, or as part of your team.

Writing and editing

From grant applications to PhDs, I can help with structure, impact, writing, referencing, polish, and formatting. Fast turnaround. APA 7th referencing and formatting a specialty.

Sessional university contracts

I am a long-term sessional staff member at Murdoch University and happy to do demonstrating, tutoring, and marking. I have a good rapport with students, and love the teaching side of things. I have covered topics from Nonprofit Leadership and Management to chemistry laboratory demonstrating. Ask me.

What do I charge?

Well, it depends.

My story… Having been a student for the past 10 years, I need to start earning some money. I’m single and need to support myself, now and in retirement. Not a single regret, but “I stayed home and looked after the kids” applies to my career and super balance.

I live a simple life though, and I went into this with the goal of learning and of helping people in mind, so I’m not here to get rich. I would aim to agree on a fee that values my expertise and time commitment, and that you and your organisation can afford.

Contracts through the university are at award rates. To employ the services of a researcher with a PhD qualification, the rate is a smidge under $60 per hour, plus costs such as travel and parking.

For editing, I charge $50 per hour if it’s just me, my computer, and the document, $100 per hour face to face (travel a consideration but you can come to me).

I have an ABN, but at the moment I don’t charge GST. I am hoping that will become necessary one day—soonish (where is the emoji I need for this?).
